Maps Scans of maps I drew as a kid These are scans of an alt-history I drew on paper when I was a kid. Everything was done by hand, including the geography, most of them were done by memory as well (the first few maps, starting in the 1000s and moving up to the 1600s, then moving back to 20AD and then going back up to finish it up to 1974).The ones not done off memory were drawn using maps in Medieval Europe by Chris Wickham (good read, 8/10 book). As a result, there are many inaccuracies, especially in Asia and Africa (I basically didn't even try for most of these). Below you will find the maps, in their original resolution (making them huge and basically unreadable on old computers, unfortunately, with comments for all of them. If you have questions, DM me on Discord or shoot me an email. 20 AD
This was one of the later maps I drew, retroactively, and is generally one of the better maps geographically. The east is pretty bad, but since this is 20 AD there's not much there. This does show the weird obsession I had with having an independent and defined nation in the Karelian Peninsula. Also, Germany and Poland are surprisingly defined, with borders and nations, unlike the real 20AD. The Roman Empire is still small and hasn't expanded into the Balkans yet. Greece still has city-states, and the Carthaginian Empire is still flourishing. 174 AD
I'd say this one was drawn directly after 20AD, given the similarities, but I can't know for sure. This one is also middle of the pack when it comes to geography, but a lot has happened in 154 years. The Roman Empire has expanded to around what it looked like in real life at its peak, but apparently in 175 there was a revolt in Gaul. Eastern Europe has expanded more, with new countries like Lithuania, though Russia is still undeveloped. We once again see the Karelian state, and it's grown. Geographically, Western Europe is quite lacking but the east is better, the Caucases aren't massive like they were in the 20 AD map, and I'd say the scale is better too. 334 AD
This one is pretty good geographically, but a lot has happened since 174. First, the mentioned Gallic Revolt has happened, leaving North Gaul independent and England seemingly independent too. The Kingdom of Carthage has grown substantially since being relegated to modern-day Tunisia, and the Near East has gained independece through the Kingdom of Judea, the Kingdom of Syria and Egypt. The Crimean state has fallen, as has the one in Karelia/Finland. Other than that, Moravia, Germania and Rome have consolidated Central Europe, and Rome still seems to be holding up well. 524 AD
Surprisingly litte has happened, probably owing to the fact that this one seems to have been made before the others. In the Nordics, there are vikings (200 years early), Wales and Ireland are independent, Greece is independent, and Carthage has shrunk. Other than that, Moravia has been consumed by Rome and Germania, and the Islamic Caliphate can be seen creeping in from Arabia (watch out for them later, they become important). 704 AD
Ok, this one's really bad. This looks to have been a very early one, possibly the 2nd or 3rd? Either way, if we're keeping consistent to the dates listed at the top, then the area that once was Germania, Poland and Lithuania has collapsed in barbarians, slavs and Saxons. I also seem to have made up a place called "Sclavenia" in modern-day Romania. Anyway, Carthage has expanded heavily to the East, taking Judea, Syria and whatever else was there, pushing the Caliphate back into Arabia. Greece is still indepdendent, and North Gaul, England and Wales remain mostly unchanged. 840 AD
If I'm ranking my children, this one has to be one of the best, simply due to how detailed it is, and how much has changed. Rome has collapsed to pretty much just Italy, the Byzantine Empire has emerged, there's so many more countries (Al-Andalus, Yemen, Oman, Prussia, Iceland, and what looks to be Switzerland?). There's a lot more going on than I can describe, so feel free to look at it on your own (the reason I added such high quality scans). It looks like the Karelian Kingdom came back, but was erased for some reason. 1025 AD
The first map, as you can tell. The Balkans are just... erased? Greece has been moved to where Crimea should be and thus the entire East is shifted. Africa is also very prominent, yet there's nothing there. Europe is much more finished, at least, with Moravia being back and Germany being renamed to East Francia (and France being West Francia). The Western Roman Empire still exists, as does the East, but the Huns have taken part of whatever the hell that area is called. In russia there's now the Duchy of Novgorod, the Kievan Rus in Ukraine, and Carthage is once again in Tunisia. 1272 AD
Another early-ish map, as you can tell by the scale being really off. I think this was one drawn with a reference, although it's geographically pretty bad. It looks like I tried to emulate what I had heard about Medieval Europe through that reference book by adding English territories in France, and some wars. 1435 AD
The West(ern Roman Empire) has fallen. Chuds around the world are crying. Anyway, Russia is united, the Mongol Empire is coming, Europe has stabilized and Karelia is back. For some reason there's also the Kalmar Union, and Bulgaria has united the Balkans (that's how you know these are fake). This one is incomplete in the East, like most of them, because I never had a reference for those (kinda makes it feel like a real European map given most of what they had about the Far East was just bullshit they heard from some beggar on the street). 1637 AD
1874 AD
Geographically, pretty bad. Yugoslavia exists now (?), Carthage is finally gone, and Germany is unified. Russia has mostly consolidated its west, besides Karelia of course, and Kazakhstan exists now. I think in Europe I was kinda going for an accurate-ish representation of 1874 in real history, but of course there are diverginces and in the East I just made up some shit. Also, Lahore and Karachi (Pakistani cities) are now in eastern India/Bengal, lmao. 1974 AD
Finally, the end. A lot has happened. Russia has collapsed, France and the Caliphare have split, and there's a lot going on. I'd just look at it yourself tbh. In the lore, which I just made up, in 1975 the entire world was nuked by aliens and that's why it ends here. Notes Don't ask me why I made these, because I have no clue. I do think they are pretty cool though,. which is why they are here. Feel free to DM me any complaints or call me slurs for not including your random Balkan country that has existed for 30 years.
